Now, this is the way it’s SUPPOSED to be: SIMPLY GRAND FINISH: Laker star QB Finnerty caps career with 3rd title
No BCS. No arguments. Twenty-four teams. One winner. Seems simple enough to me.
Congrats, Lakers!

the game was awesome. both teams making mistakes, but finnerty just wouldn’t let GVSU lose. he took over and earned his place in history. and the playoff system again demonstrated how well it can work.
but more importantly, congratulations on the upcoming nuptials. i wish you two the best!

the BCS is where it wants to be. College sports–football inparticular–is a money making “cash cow”. Nothing will ever change untill people stop watching or spending money on it. The biggest sport in the country–NASCAR–changed its “playoff” format because it was losing money and viewers to the NFL when it came time for the season to wrap up. So they made a change, and in doing so created a way for them to make even more money. Untill the NCAA starts losing revenue on college football then nothing will change. They are recieveing more publicity in the past few years with complaints about how the BCS works, than they ever would without it. So as long as theres money flowing through the “non-professional” sports programs at the college level there is sure to be little or no change in the future.

Thanks for the “congrats,” Sean!
Scott: Sports Illustrated recently had an article on why the BCS isn’t going away, and it basically pointed out what you do; Bowl games make a lot of money, so don’t expect the format to change. ~Sigh~
