We decided to go to a political rally in Grand Rapids this evening for Barack Obama. It was his first visit to Michigan. It was quite an experience. Not only did Obama speak, but John Edwards endorsed him (it was a surprise visit for Edwards). It was like we got 2 for the price of 1 (even though the event was free)!
We waited for nearly 2 hours inside the arena, but everyone was so polite and friendly. Because we didn’t go down for the Gerald Ford events, we decided that we should probably go down to the rally, seeing as there is a chance that Obama could be our President some day, and not just anybody can say they saw the President speak. I’m not completely convinced that he will make a good President (I am a Hillary fan, personally), and just today I was talking with some colleagues about who I am going to “write-in” for my vote for President this November. But, the man is definitely very well spoken, and I can see why he is so appealing to many people. He comes across as very intelligent, energetic, personable, and he was even concerned about some crowd member who passed out almost directly in front of him.
It really was a neat event! I’m glad that I went.
