2 yrs (well, almost)
We are celebrating our 2 year wedding anniversary a few days early this year, but we definitely deserve a weekend away. It’s been a busy fall with the start of the school year and the last of the weddings to tape. We are looking forward to a night on the town in GR and just being able to spend some time together.
In baby news, well, I’m at 17 weeks tomorrow. The last appointment heart rate was 154 – very comforting to hear. We go for the BIG ultrasound on November 16. Not sure yet about finding out the gender. At first neither of us wanted to know, and now I’m kind of wanting to know. If we do find out, we won’t be sharing that information with anyone else though (sorry). Rob will probably win this one though and we’ll get a surprise. The due date is still April 3. I graduated out of my size 4 pants WEEKS ago. Thank goodness for stretchy New York and Company pants without zippers or buttons! I have a couple pair of jeans that I bought a size bigger that are working for the time being. It’s amazing to me how much my body has changed already though!
It’s been a busy few months, but a good few months! Before we know it, Thanksgiving and Christmas will be here. Let’s hope that our leaves fall soon so we can get to them before the snow starts flying this year…

OK sis, so if you do find out, I am going to bug you SOOOO much so you’re better off just not finding out the sex! I’m with Rob, just let it be a surprise. I couldn’t stand you knowing and me not knowing!!!!!!!!!!! If we all don’t know then that’s better! I do think that you won’t have to buy ANY clothes if it’s a boy though! I cleaned out Jake’s closet AGAIN today and I already have a garbage bag FULL of clothes! Some he didn’t even get to wear! I can’t believe it! He’s not even three months old yet! Anyway, have you thought of names??
Sis, it’s partially YOUR fault that I can’t find out the sex (hee hee) because Rob says I can’t keep it a secret from you.
So I will just blame you and it’ll make me feel better about things (hee hee)! We have thought of names, but those are top secret too!
Sorry, wish I could help ya out!
I figured as much! That’s ok! I’ve come to terms with the fact that I am just going to have to wait until April!!
You’ll just have to deal!!! Love ya, sis!
Yea!! Great Baby News! For around the home, I went to Target and went into the Men’s Department and got some Size L “lounge pants” just black cotton pants with a drawstring. They helped me get through the weird phase where your belly isn’t big enough to hold up the maternity pants but your hips have expanded too much to wear regular pants. Pikcing out names was very stressful for us – Good luck! We had two names boy/girl and then actually rejected the girl name when we saw the ultrasound picture and knew it was a girl. She didn’t look like a “Claire”. So we spent the next six weeks trying to figure out her new name before she was born.
Thanks, Mel! I’ll have to hit up the men’s lounge pants section at Target! I can’t remember – did you guys tell everyone that you were having a girl beforehand, or did just the two of you find out and you kept it to yourselves until she was born?
As I recall, you registered for a more gender-neutral nursery set. That’s our plan – to register for a gender-neutral set (so we can reuse in the future, Lord willing). It’s funny that you mention the name change thing. We actually can’t agree on the girl name, so if we have a girl, then we’ll probably have to look at her to see which name fits best…. We both like the girl names, but we just can’t seem to totally agree on one. Those funny Patins, I tell ya!
We found out we were having a girl and we told everyone we were having a girl and we kept the name secret. If I was doing it all again, I’d find out the sex – because I couldn’t stand not knowing – but I wouldn’t tell anyone. Even though we knew we were having a girl, we bought a gender neutral crib set so we could reuse it again if we have a boy. We did, however, paint the walls a pretty “girly” pruple color because we knew we could. We can easily repaint the walls a blue color – blue for the ocean, since that’s our theme, ocean animals – and then it can be a boy room if we need it.
I remember that now! So, is this an announcement? Any more Andersons on the way?
Rob and I spent the last week (while not working) talking and talking about if we want the surprise, if we want to know and tell everyone, or if just we want to find out and then not tell anyone else. We also started looking into daycare options. That’s not an easy thing because of course any parent doesn’t think anyone else can take care of their kid better than they could/can. But, we are starting early so hopefully we can find the right fit. Any suggestions when looking for daycare?
You just reminded me of something one of my friends did. She did find out the gender of her baby, and told everyone, but didn’t tell anyone (except for me, oddly enough) what they were planning to name the baby. Whenever her family, in-laws, etc., asked her what she was going to name her baby girl, or offered unsolicited naming advice, she’d calmly tell them, “Well, we already decided to name her Shaniqua.” She figured that would make everyone pleasantly surprised when they found out the real name. (As in, “Oh, thank goodness, she didn’t go with Shaniqua.”)
PS: No offense to people who like the name Shaniqua is intended. It just really wouldn’t have fit with my friend’s style.
